What you should spend your money on

Harvard did an 80-year-long study to find out what made people happy at the end of their life. They measured income, health, work quality, hobbies, etc., and compared them to happiness.

They found no relation between income and happiness. But Andrew points out the obvious. He says income allows you to do activities that promote happiness. Things like family, fun experiences, and taking care of your health. And most of all, social connection.

It had the ​biggest correlation  with happiness. So if you want to spend $10-$30, it should be on getting closer to other people and having more/better friendships.

It's not even expensive (compared to what you get out of it). You could go to an event you're excited about or ask someone if they want to hang out this week. If you genuinely like being around the person or group, it's worth spending. So.

Action for the day

Spend money on social connections.

If you miss someone or there’s a group of people you're excited to get to know more. Imagine how nice it’ll feel when you finally engage and have the time to be together. Go to a dinner, have a hike, workout together, anything you want.

It'll feel great. Just don’t break the bank :) simple things are just as nice.

It’s worth spending money on quality social interaction. So do it.
