Cool your palms during workouts

The glabrous skin on your palms contains AVAs which are vessels that allow heat to leave the body faster and cold to enter the body faster. This helps you regulate body temperature and has been shown to allow athletes to run much further, lift more weights, and do more sets. AVAs are exclusively available in the face, palms, and bottoms of the feet.

Here are ways you can use this:

  • Before exercising, soak your hands in cold water.

  • While running, hold a cold water bottle and switch hands every few minutes.

  • At the gym, use an ice pack during rest periods between sets.

Alternatively, you can use frozen berries packs, frozen cans, or cold surfaces (ex. wall, barbell).

To remember this, add it to your Calendar at around the time you start working out (ex. 5PM).
