Is meat good for you?
There’s a huge hype about meat and carnivore diets. In this post, you’ll learn how this is relevant to you and whether it’s healthy. We’ll come at it from the neuro-side, what Andrew is an expert on.
Meats, in particular red meats, tend to be rich in things like tyrosine. Tyrosine is the precursor of dopamine, and dopamine is the precursor of norepinephrine and epinephrine. So those foods tend to lend themselves toward the production of the things that are associated with wakefulness.
What we eat how good we feel. Of course, they also affect health and mental health. But now we’ll focus on mood/energy levels.
Here are the 3 factors.
Tyrosine: This is a precursor to dopamine. Which means you need it to create dopamine. And meats have a lot of it. So in some way, If you eat purely meat. Like steaks, ribs, or liver. You will feel more motivated.
Note: You can also get this from a supplement called L-tyrosine. Or other protein-rich foods like fish.Tryptophan: This releases serotonin and chemicals related to calmness. It makes you feel sleepy. And found in carbohydrates. Foods like pasta and rice.
Food volume: When you eat a lot, you get sleepy or drowsy. There’s a gut signal for this. But when you fast, or barely eat, your body releases adrenaline, so you feel alert and focused.
So, in some way, our carnivore/keto/intermittent fasting friends make sense.
When they eat purely meat and protein, their body makes them pursue goals. They avoid the energy crashes from eating sugar or too much carbs. And they’re always excited for life.
But use it to spill your social feed with pictures of their healthy ‘detox’ food 🤗
Now, you don’t have to go through that massive transformation. , you can try a light tweak and see if this works for you.
Today, or tomorrow at lunchtime, eat steak, liver, or any kind of red meat. And at night, eat the carbs you like. They’ll help you sleep
It’s one light tweak, that can give you more energy during the day and deeper sleep at night.
Try it yourself. If you get more energy, great! If not, that’s okay too. Action for the day! sorry vegans 🫡
Eat meat for lunch and check how you feel after. Good day !
