Let's keep your vision healthy
If you you are spending a lot of time looking at things up close, and you are not allowing your vision to relax. You are not giving your lens the opportunity to flatten out, and for these muscles to relieve themselves of this work. You may get migraine headaches. But you are also training your eyes to be good at looking at things up close and not far away, and as a consequence, you are reshaping the neural circuitry in your brain, and it is not good. It is not healthy to only look at things up close.
Hey, we’re all busy. We spend most of our time on devices (phone, laptop, monitor, etc.). And we can’t stop that. All our work and entertainment are on there.
But always looking at screens isn’t good for the eyes. Not because of the light (like your parents used to say). It’s bad because your eyes start to use less of the muscles important for far-viewing. So your vision gets worse as you age. It can also give you headaches and bad moods. You may already be feeling that if you’re spending too much time on devices already.
To avoid that, you need to relieve those eye muscles. How?
Relax your eyes and look out at the horizon. You want to go into what's called panoramic vision. Look at a wide, open field of view. It makes your viewing mechanism elastic. So it doesn’t get stuck in that configuration of looking at things up close.
When you get the chance, whether it’s 10 AM or 6 PM. Either go outside or look outside a window or balcony. A few minutes each time is good.
Bonus tip: when you’re walking or waiting in traffic, don’t pull up your phone. Use that time to relax your eyes. And if, by any chance, you’re reading an email about taking care of eye health, umm, get up and look outside :)
Action for the day: Spend at least 10 minutes looking outside (in panoramic vision).
Really hope you do it. Have a fantastic day .
Do you prefer less emails per week? Let me know.
