Keep Your Back Straight While Working

There are studies that show that as you adjust the angle of the body back, you actually get a dose -dependent increase in sleepiness and calmness and a dose-dependent decrease in alertness. -AH

The more you tilt your body, the more sleepy/tired you get. So when you slouch down in your chair or lean into the screen or lie on the couch, your productivity decreases. When your body is straight, however, you increase adrenaline and epinephrine and feel more alert.

Straightening your back while working is simple... but not easy. This may need some work in the beginning but it becomes a habit soon. So,

Action for the day

you know it's coming :) ... Straighten your back. Pull your shoulders back. And align your neck. Takes 5 seconds.

Refreshing, isn't it? Keep in mind that you will find yourself slouching again during the day. That's okay. Whenever it happens, adjust, breathe, and continue working. It will help you sustain your focus and be more productive per unit of time.

Tricks to make it easier:

  1. Tighten your space. I like to stick to the table. This restricts any movement and keeps the good posture.

  2. Elevate your computer. It's easier for you to stay straight when the screen is at eye level.

  3. Put a note next to your computer with "straighten your back". Feel free to put it now. It's a good reminder.

Otherwise, sit up straight and enjoy the alertness.

Good job! Here's the clip from the podcast.
