How To Grow Your Hippocampus

Effects of exercise on memory

I like to give people this image: every single time you move your body, it's like giving your brain this wonderful bubble bath of neurochemicals, of noradrenaline, dopamine, serotonin, and growth factors.

And with regular bubble baths, what am I doing? I'm growing a big fat, fluffy hippocampus. And I'm not going to cure my father's dementia, Alzheimer's dementia, but you know what? If I go into my 70s with a big fat, fluffy hippocampus, even if I had dementia in my genes and it starts to kick in, it's going to take longer for that disease to start to affect my ability to form and retain new long-term memories for facts and events.

Dr. Wendy Suzuki

Your hippocampus is really amazing. It creates all your memories. Without it, you wouldn’t remember anything. They did an experiment to see how impactful it is. There’s a patient called ‘HM’. Name confidential. Because of an accident, he had his hippocampus removed. He stayed alive. But his life changed.

He lived like a normal person; eating, talking, sleeping. But he couldn’t make new memories. So if you punch his knee. He’ll scream in pain. 3 seconds later, you ask “did it hurt?” and he’ll forget you ever hit him. Crazy.

If you want to avoid that, you can. Wendy Suzuki did dozens and dozens of experiments. She found the easiest way to keep your hippocampus healthy. So with this tool, you’ll be able to remember more things, have a stronger memory of them, and stay sharp when you’re 70!

What’s the protocol? 30-45 minutes of aerobic exercise

Yup. That simple. aaaandddd you’re not doing it!

You can do it at home. open youtube and search for a workout. Or jog around the block. Or cycle. As long as you elevate your heart rate.

You should do this at least 2 times a week. If you really want to max out your memory, you can do it up to 7 times a week.

Either way, , if you care about being sharp and healthy when you’re older, answer these in your head please.

  1. When will you do the workout? (day and time)
    think of answer…

  2. Where?
    think of answer…

  3. What workout? examples: kickboxing, pilates, treadmill, cycling, peloton
    think of answer…

Alright, let’s get that big, fat hippocampus 🧠

Have a fantastic day and workout !
