How To Get Rid Of Sugar Cravings
and avoid the late night snacking binges
How can we enjoy the taste of sugar, but not constantly crave it during the day? Science has the answer.
it's somewhat unusual if you decided to consume broccoli, for instance, along with your chocolate. But if you really want to adjust your sugar cravings and you still want to ingest some sugary foods, you probably would be better off co-ingesting with foods that lower the sweet’s high-glycemic index. And what you’re really trying to do is blunt the dopamine increase from it. - Andrew Huberman
So eat sugary food with healthy food in the same meal.
This decreases the glycemic load in your body. So no spike in blood sugar. And no spike in the dopamine of ‘I want more of this sugar’.
So even though you get the same wonderful taste of creamy chocolate goodness or the satisfying crunchiness of a cookie, you get less of the strong cravings for sugar at that moment and after work or workouts.
Of course, this won’t eliminate all your cravings. But it’s a useful tool nonetheless. Whenever you want to eat sugar, add fat, protein, or fiber.
Instead of eating chocolate late at night (you know who you are 😊), make it part of your healthy protein/legume/vegetable lunch. Take a bite of broccoli then a bite of chocolate. Even if you go to a restaurant this weekend. Order the dessert with the mains, not after.
Yes, your friends will think you’re weird. But with this planning, you’ll fulfill your dopamine satisfaction wayy earlier than those binge crashes. So you avoid them and get a much healthier, more stable version of you.
(So I really hope you try it ).
Consume your favorite sweets with healthy food.
Bye!
