How to get over the 'just one more'
Making discipline the reward
Hey , you know when you're chilling, resting, or having fun, but then you remember some responsibilities you have. Then you're like 'One more video' or '5 more minutes'. And then you waste your entire afternoon.
Those moments create massive limbic friction. And it's too hard for you to use yesterday's tool of leveraging your body with breathing or walking. But there's another mental trick that can help.
In those moments of most intense friction. you tell yourself this is very painful. And because it is painful it will evoke an increase in dopamine release later. To an extent, It is lying to yourself. But it's done in the context that you want it to feel better - AH
In those friction moments, you start to think that something is wrong with you. That you're stuck. That's okay. It happened to me while writing this. Because it's hard to be disciplined. It's painful to beat limbic friction.
And, that's amazing. Why?
Dopamine is subjective. You choose what gives you pleasure.
Do you know what that means?
You can choose to get your dopamine hit from the moment you resist the negative activity. So you get your satisfaction from when you resist sugar instead of when you eat it.

So you get your reward from limbic friction. And discipline becomes what you're looking for. And that skyrockets your growth to whatever goal you're working on.
Alright. words bla bla. You'll forget them in 10 seconds. No. Let's make this part of your day.

be more social, lose weight, make a landing page, drink less, etc.What's the hardest part of the goal?
looking at a cake and not eating it, working for longer hours, caring what people thinkOkay, use the resistance of that thing as your reward.
ex: “good for me, I just resisted the urge to eat sugar”
And that way. You're always in control.
Action: Reframe your mentality about discipline.
Make discipline & consistency the reward you're looking for.
