Fidget! Shake your arms, legs, and head whenever you can
+5 weight loss
So one of the most powerful ways to stimulate epinephrin which is also called adrenaline from these neurons that connect to fat and to thereby stimulate more fat mobilization and oxidation is through movement. But I'm not talking about exercise. The type of movement that I'm referring to, is extremely subtle.
Rothwell and Stock discovered that fidgeters, people that bounce their knee, people that nod a lot, people that stand up and sit down a lot throughout the day, people that have a head bob while they're listening, and people that pace. Burn anywhere from 800 to 2,500 calories more than the control group
You know that friend who eats everything and has dessert every day but somehow doesn’t get fat? It’s because they fidget!
Fidgeting burns calories. AND stimulates adrenaline release in smaller areas that can later oxidize fat. So you burn more fat even when you’re not exercising.
You might’ve heard of this concept before. It’s called ‘NEAT’ - non-exercise activity thermogenesis.
We don’t know how much you can increase it. But the more you do these subtle, fidget-like movements, the better
So , if you’re not getting enough workouts in, sitting all day, dealing with an injury, or want to get leaner, this is perfect for you.
Of course, it’s a process. You won’t see any results in one day. But you need to start and slowly notice the difference. You can:
fidget your legs while sitting at your desk (ex. move them like a flopping fish)
bounce like you do when you really need to go to the bathroom
or when you get up for a break, start to pace around like you’re anxious
you can do a combination. But whatever it is. Do something now.
Yeah . Start fidgeting!
Bounce your legs and wiggle your arms while you’re reading this. You don’t have to get up. No one will think you’re crazy. I’m kidding, they will, but it doesn’t matter :p, do it. Just shake any limb
Alright.
Keep fidgeting throughout the day.
p.s. if you want to make this a habit, reply to the email and I’ll give you spaced repetition reminders.
Have a good one!
